For Service Providers

Whether you currently work with beginning farmers or want to start a program to serve this constituency, you will find helpful resources here.  This is an exciting time for beginning farmer advocates.  National policymakers are finally recognizing the importance of new farmers to the future of agriculture.  NESFI has been engaged with aspiring and beginning farmers for more than 25 years and has developed a range of tools and information for service providers.  Much of this has occurred in collaboration with others, such as in the Growing New Farmers Project.  We welcome your feedback and contributions to the increasing body of research and practical tools to help our next generation of farmers.

Who are New Farmer Service Providers?

New farmer service providers are organizations and individuals that provide direct assistance through programs and services to people who aspire to become, or are in the process of becoming commercial farmers.  Organizations can include agencies such as county extension offices, and state departments of agriculture, and non-profit organizations dedicated to agricultural and/or environmental education and issues.  Individuals include agricultural educators working for institutions and on-farm mentors.
